Where do I park?
There are many lots on the East Campus where you can park. There
will be signs showing people were to park and volunteers directing cars
toward parking lots the day of the Walk.
Can I turn in pledges before the day of the Walk?
Yes. Just mail them to APS of Durham, Attn: Walk for the Animals,
2117 E. Club Blvd., Durham, NC 27704 OR come to one of the
Advance
Registration & Collection Sites.
If I am a team member and we don’t raise $500 in time for the special team
t-shirts, can we still turn in pledges and qualify for
other prizes?
Yes. If you do not turn in $500 or more in pledges by
Wednesday, April 30th, you can still turn in pledges between April 30th and May
17th or you can turn in pledges at the Walk. You will qualify for the Top
Team Prize and each member of your team will qualify to win Individual
prizes based on how much money in pledges each of them raised but your team
will not receive the special team t-shirts.
Do team members qualify for individual pledge-raising prizes?
Yes, based on how much each of them raise, not on how much the team
raises.
Do corporate matching gifts count toward pledge totals?
NO.
Do in-kind donations (food, medicine) could toward my pledge total?
NO.
How many people do I need to recruit to form a team?
Three other people besides yourself. A team is made up of 4 or more walkers.
Can I come to the Walk without registering?
You can enter the Walk site and visit our vendors without registering but we
strongly encourage everyone to register. This is a fundraising event and the
funds are raised by people registering and raising pledges.
Do I have to register in advance?
No. You can register and bring pledges the day of the Walk. Just get there
early to give yourself enough time to register (registration starts at
9:00am). However, we encourage you to register early if possible. It will
save you money (early bird registration is $5 less than the day of
registration) and time (there will be special areas for pre-registered
walkers to pick up their t-shirts and turn in pledges helping you to avoid
the registration lines).
What if it rains?
The Walk goes on rain or shine, just bring rain gear, or buy a poncho
at the APS Concession Stand.
My 14 year old daughter wants to walk, do I need to register too?
No, but you do need to attend the Walk with her. Everyone under 16
must be accompanied by an adult. We encourage you to register so that you
can get a free t-shirt and help support the animals though.
Are Walk pledges tax-deductible?
Yes.
What do I do if someone wants a receipt for their pledge?
Get all of his/her information including name, address, and phone number and
clearly indicate on your pledge sheet that they would like to receive a
receipt. Make sure the amount that they donated is also clearly indicated
and that you note if it was paid for with cash or a check. They can expect
to receive the receipt by July 1, 2008.
How do I become a vendor?
Last year's
Walk raised more than $90,000, and was well attended.
This year's Walk will be even bigger and better. Help us make the day a
success by participating in the Walk as a vendor. The Walk provides a
wonderful opportunity to showcase your company's products and services to
an audience of animal lovers, while also helping the APS fulfill its
mission to care for abused and neglected animals.
The Walk will be
heavily advertised in a variety of media, and we're providing a mix of food
and entertainment to ensure that a good time is had by all. There will be
plenty of reasons for our participants to spend as much time as possible at
the Walk site, enjoying the fun and browsing the booths of all of our
vendors!
The 2009 vendor application will be
available soon.
